I have a Nikon D7000, it is a mid range camera and still light enough for me to carry around
What sold me was the dual memory card slots which you can configure as a backup or split video and photos to separate cards. Which pleases the risk adverse side of me 🙂
Two Sigma lenses, firstly, a Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC HSM for pure versatility.
As a practical person on the go, I was tired of having to change my lens for close ups and landscape shots when I was on a sand dune, it made me nervous!
And I was missing shots while changing lenses
And my latest acquisition is a macro lens Sigma 24mm f/1.8 EX DG for those intense macro close ups. It’s a beautiful lens I learn more about it each day, it’s creativity with light and depth is pure magic. I mainly use it for closeups while walking through my garden of roses and the tiny world of nature.
Why Sigma? I find they are more cost effective and the quality rivals the Nikon lenses
Now as for my tripod, I am embarrassed to say that I broke mine and I am borrowing one at the moment. But Manfrodo of course I am eyeing but keen to hear any suggestions or feedback on tripods, I want lightweight as we do a lot of walking and I am no bodybuilder 🙂
Workflow & Tech
I import all my pictures into Aperture, do the ratings, export only 4 star or higher and import that batch into Lightroom. I am currently using Lightroom 5 for all of my processing and may pull out Photoshop CC for a few special edits that may need things removed. The content aware delete is one of my favourite parts of Photoshop
I lot of my editing is done with Lightroom Presets, my favourite are Trey Ratcliffe’s bundle which include HDR, cross processing and gradient presets.
I am using a legacy Apple iMac 27″ after being a windows person for years, the colours on the iMac are just unsurpassed, it’s just a delight editing on one
Links below on where to purchase the gear I have recommended
I do have an affiliation with Amazon so if you would like to purchase from them, I would appreciate you clicking on the links below 🙂
The 18-250 retails for $750 USD but is currently listing on Amazon for $299 which is a crazy good price
